Texans with severe disabilities may apply for Social Security Disability Insurance and/or Supplemental Security Income at their local Social Security Office. To apply for disability benefits, call or visit their website. The Social  Security Administration administers two disability programs. Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) is related to work. A person earns coverage for themselves and family members by paying Social Security tax. The program covers workers who are disabled, disabled widows/widowers and disabled adult children of workers. Supplemental Security Income (SSI) covers adults and children and is related to means - if you do not own much or have much income, you may be able to qualify for SSI.

The goal of Grisham Farms Therapy Zoo is to provide a safe, private environment for special needs children and adults to interact with farm and exotic animals. These animals are used as tools for social, emotional, behavioral and cognative skill development.

The center is available for use by therapsts and teachers in public and private school systems, as well as therapists in private practice. Grisham Farms also provides services for children in the foster care system, including visits to the farm with their caseworks, parents and/or foster families, as well as respite care.

The zoo is open Monday - Thursday from 10 AM until 2 PM by reservation only.  A maximum of 10 visitors are allowed at a time to maximize the one on one interaction with the animals.
